Essay

There has been made the thriboanalysis of the physical and chemical condition of the surface and near surface layers of the metal and polymer friction couples of brakes at their contact, electric and thermal interaction on nano-, micro- and mililevels. The parameters of efficiency and energy capacity of the friction units. There have been formulated the conditions of occurrence of the thermal stabilizing condition of the metal friction unit and its existence is confirmed both theoretically and experimentally to be a new phenomenon in the heavily loaded friction units. There have been proposed a number of methods and means for its prevention. There has been proposed the method of controlling the wear and friction properties of the metal and polymer friction couple of brakes by quasilevelling the specific loading in them and ensuring the prognosed thermal regime by a reasonable choice of materials for the friction couple units.
