Essay

Dissertation is devoted to the study of the Ancient Egyptian picture of the world categories during the second half of the II millennium B.C. in the pictorial tradition of the "Theban redaction" of the Book of the Dead. In the center of the work is an iconographical analysis of the semantic evolution of the vignettes of the BD chapters 16, 17 and 42 on the papyri drawings, tombs and coffins paintings. As a result, the main characteristic features of the picture of the world categories which were represented in the pictorial tradition of following BD chapters are studied - solar ideas and Solar-Osirian syncretism, key cosmological and cosmogonic mythologemes, in particular, a thanathological one, special features anthropogonical and anthropological representations of Egyptians, it was shown how the iconography of these vignettes represent the ideas of "personal piety". It was found that the evolution of semantics and iconography in the pictorial tradition of the Book of the Dead was the visual side of the main paradigms of the ideology of the New Kingdom - Third Intermediate Period.
