Essay

The dissertation is devoted to investigation of the responses of metallothioneins (MT), metal-binding and stress-related proteins of bivalve mollusks (Anodonta cygnea, Colletopterum piscinale, Dreissena polymorpha) and cyprinid fish (Cyprinus carpio та Carassius auratus gibelio)) under the effect of natural pollution in native reservoirs or transplanted, or experimental exposure to Cu, Zn, Mn, Co ions, and biocides clofentesine (Apollo) and mixtures of mancozeb and propamocarb. The causation between reactivity of separate a- and b-domain of MTs in aquatic animals and priority of metal binding or antioxidant function of MTs has been established. Multivariate statistics show that zinc-binding ability of mollusks MTs and copper-binding ability of fish and human MTs are in negative relation with signs of oxidative stress, genotoxicity, endocrine disruption and biotransformation process.
