Essay

Methodology of application time series satellite data and GIS analysis for the effective estimation of crop status, enhancing an accuracy of crop classification, estimation of vegetative parameters of crops based on remotely sensed data and yield forecast has been developed. Methodic of satellite data pre-processing with the required atmospheric correction during time series creation for objective estimation of spectral characteristics of crop canopies has been explained. Classification technique for crops identification including the timing of image acquisition and the number of images for obtaining high classification accuracy has been improved. Optimization technique for selection vegetation indices and the number of spectral signatures has been applied on the basis of classification accuracy and the minimal number of spectral signatures criteria. The assessed minimal number of different signatures for providing high classification accuracy is 2 signatures, and it is 1 signature for corn and winter rape.
