The thesis is devoted to the study of theoretical and methodological foundations of social and employment potential in the modernization of the region's economy. A new direction of Regional Studies of social and employment potential (SEP) of a region was developed and substantiated. The fundamentals of institutional provision of counteraction mechanism of destructive impact of institutional traps on SEP development were substantiated.
