Essay

On the basis of study of acoustic, optical, and thermomechanical properties of crystals that belong to the Sn2P2(SexS1-x)6 family the problem of special points on p,T,x - phase diagram is solved and the high efficiency materials were proposed for optical radiation control. The tricritical point at p,T - phase diagram of Sn2P2S6 crystals has been revealed (pTC = 4.3 kbar and TTC = 259 K). It was argued that on the p,T,x - phase diagram of Sn2P2(SexS1-x)6 solid solutions there are two special lines of phase transitions, namely line of tricritical points and the line of triple points. A new efficient acoustooptic, magnetooptic and electrogyration materials based on Sn2P2S6 crystal are proposed.
