The thesis is devoted to the development of theoretical and methodological and applied principles of formation and functioning mechanisms of regional economic modernization and overcoming asymmetries territorial development. In the thesis: developed concepts and terminology and typology of regional development, the concept of territorial asymmetry assessment methodology development; improved methodological basis of modernization of socio-economic governance in the region, proved the concept of organizational-economic mechanism for smoothing spatial polarization regions, the conception of the mechanism smoothing asymmetry of intra-regional areas; methodical basis assess the level of asymmetry of regional socio-economic systems.
