Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of molecular mechanisms of induction of oxidative-nitrative stress and its role in the induction and development of diabetic complications (angiopathy, neuropathy, retinopathy and nephropathy). It was established that elevated level of peroxynitrite in the endothelium of blood vessels of rat with type 1 diabetes mellitus, causes a number of vascular dysfunction: decrease of vasodilatation ability, reactivity and blood flow. It was demonstrated an increase in nitrotyrosine accumulation in the peripheral nerve, retina and kidney of rats and mice with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. These tissues of diabetic rats and mice also display the peroxynitrite-dependent activation of PARP-1.
