Essay

On the basis of a systematic approach the results of long-term experiments were analyzed. The methodology for rehabilitation and sustainable use of forest ecosystems contaminated with radioactive substances in remote period after the Chernobyl accident was proposed. The spatial distribution of radioactive elements in forest ecosystems of Ukrainian Polessje in the remote period after the Chernobyl accident was studied. The impacts of meteorological factors (wind direction, precipitation intensity) on the degree of radioactive contamination of forest ecosystems was explore. The peculiarities of radioactive substances' distribution in the components of forest ecosystems were studied in different forest types. The evaluation of long-term dynamics of radioactive elements' content in wood and non wood forest resources was made. The classification of forest lands according to the degree of radiation hazard in the remote period after the Chernobyl accident was developed. The criteria and methodology for rehabilitation of radioactively contaminated forest ecosystems were proposed. The system of countermeasures in forestry for acute and remote after the emergency period were developed.; The impacts of edaphic factors on the intensity of migration of radionuclides in forest ecosystems were studied.
