Essay

Dissertation work is dedicated to salvation of problems in modern neurology and neurosurgery - improvement of regeneration of peripheral nerves with use of direct long term electric stimulation with use of native neurostimulating system NeyCi-3M. Studying of the effects of long term electrical stimulation on regeneration of isciadicus nerve after nerve suturing (in rabbits) experimentally showed structural changes, that indicate acceleration and repair the physiological structure of nerve trunks. Positive vector effect of electrical stimulation (using quality and quantity criteria) on signs of regeneration in nerve trunks in study groups comparing with comparison groups was established. Direct long term electrical stimulation of nerve fibers, during experiment, accelerates speed and regeneration of functional physiological regeneration. Positive vector effect of electrical stimulation, using quantity and quality criteria, on signs of regeneration of nerve trunks of studied animal groups was found. Compensational-adaptive (reparative) effect of long term electrical stimulation on functionally-possible regeneration of nerve fibers (remieloregeneration and stromal-angio regeneration) was determined. Long term medical electrical stimulation in patients with after-effects of birth trauma of brachial plexus and facial nerve, even in distant period of observation (more than two years after trauma), allows to reach functionally-positive results in 76% of patients. Method of long term electrical stimulation, that was invented in clinic, allowed to improve results of treatment and achieve positive result (complete, good, moderate regeneration ) in 79% of patients in comparison with surgical treatment without long term electrical stimulation - 52,9% of patients. Positive results in main group of patients (with long term medical electrical stimulation) were twice as often (30,7%), than in comparison group (12,6%). No effect of treatment and minor improvement were determined in every fifth (21%) after nerve stimulation, and in every second (47,1%) without long term neurostimulation. Long term electrical stimulation allows to shorten time used for treating patines, improve quality of life of patients with peripheral nerve injuries, that has important social and economical meaning.
