Essay

The microstructure of carbon-epoxy composites depending on morphology of carbon filler was determined. Monte Carlo simulation has been performed for predicting the percolation threshold in electrical conductivity of polymer composites filled with conductive particles of various morphology. The model of effective electrical conductivity and extended mixture model for thermal conductivity have been developed for carbon-polymer composites taking into account the morphology and the spatial orientation of the carbon particles in composite. The effect of filler morphology and their distribution in composites on the efficiency of interaction with electromagnetic radiation (25.5-37.5 GHz) has been established.
