In the thesis the theoretical bases of formation of the strategy of sustainable development of rural areas, its social and economic essence, the principles and regional patterns, the influence of globalization and integration processes on the sustainable development of rural areas, regional factors and components. The methodological basis for sustainable development of rural areas, institutional controls and governance arrangements in terms of regions, the peculiarities of planning and forecasting strategies for sustainable development of rural areas at the level of regions, defined the organizational and economic principles of sustainable development, criteria, methods and indicators for assessing regional performance.
