Essay

The thesis is concerned with the solution of the scientific and technological problem of development of physical and technological basis for design of functional materials based on refractory metal silicides, finding ways for optimization of the structural and phase state of these materials and creation of technologies for silicide materials with targeted performance properties. The physical and technological regularities of forming silicide composites in reactive diffusion, fall out of condensates, powder consolidation and melting are enunciated in the thesis. The advantages of multi-layer high temperature silicide coatings formed through lower silicon content silicide phases compared to traditional disilicide coatings, are shown. The thesis determines the causes and offers solutions to prevent development of abnormal processes in generating of silicide-coated composites.
