Cherkas B. Western Ownership of the Ulus of Jochi in 13-14 cent.: Socio-Political and Economic Development.

The thesis deals with complex processes of formation of the western the Ulus of Jochi ownership in 13-14 centuries, its socio-political and economic development. Based on elaborated complex of sources thesis covers the history of the gains made by the Mongols in Ukraine, shows stages of the process. It is shown as a gain influenced on the appearance of new regions of the Ulus of Jochi, which fall within the definition of "western". Emphasized that the idea of the conquest of Kyiv and Sudak arose by Genghis Khan during the conquest of Khorezm. Thus, the campaign of Subedeya and Jebе was reconnaissance. According to the results of the campaign Mongols made a decision on the full conquest of the western part of the Eurasian steppe and adjacent territories. It was shown that the capture of Ukraine by Mongol Empire took place in several stages. In 1242 the Mongols secured border on the Dnipro. Conquered lands were included in the Jochi Ulus - the westernmost region of the Mongol Empire.
