Essay

The thesis dwells upon establishing the factors of osteoarthritis (OA) formation and development in puberty on the basis of a complete study of some morphofunctional features of the knee joints and connective tissue metabolism, namely: intercellular matrix and collagen fibers elements, metabolism of inorganic components, immunological homeostasis, hormonal regulation and chromosome stability in adolescents, who got over reactive arthritis in the past or have some symptoms of the knee joints dysplasia now. The articular cartilage and the joint cavity structural parameters have been established to have close interaction with all findings of the homeostasis components at the stages of patients' growth in puberty. The study has confirmed that the OA genesis in adolescents involves the principal pathogenetic links, including some morphological changes in the structure of cartilage, immuno-metabolic, biochemical and muscular inflammatory components. The degree of their participation and significance of contribution into the pathogenesis of the disease vary depending on the background of OA formation: connective tissue dysplasia or reactive arthritis, suffered before. Algorithms for OA diagnosis against the background of the suffered ReA and OA development, prevention for the OA formation have been worked out.
