Essay

The dissertation is devoted to solving the scientific problems on the radioecological evaluation of natural land usage of Ukrainian Polissya. The research has developed radiologically-seafe and technologically and economically reasonable basis for the use of natural lands of Ukrainian Polissya. Complex systematic research for radioecological estimation of natural lands usage has been conducted; the principles of radionuclide transfer from soil to plants, as well as to animals (production) and to the bodies of rural population depending on various factors including technological and environmental ones have been substantiated. Indirect methods for assessing radionuclide contamination of animals and animal products have been developed. Using the example of the separate settlement in the zone of obligatory resettlement the doses of irradiation among rural population have been studied and the role of "local" food products in their formation has been elucidated. On the basis of compartment mathematical simulation of 137Cs migration in the coniferous forests of Ukrainian Polissya the prospective doses got by the population due to the consumption of critical food from natural lands have been examined. The priorities in the use of natural lands which enable to minimize contamination of animal's and human's organisms by radionuclides have been identified. The specific methodological approaches and practical tools that ensure the improvement of the domestic ruminants feeding system on the natural lands of Ukrainian Polissya have been proposed. For assessing the ruminants feeding conditions of their grazing on pastures some criteria have been systematized and methodical approaches have been developed.
