The object of the study is a Cretaceous system of the southern slope of the Ukrainian shield and its southern frame. The aim of the research is to study the systematic composition of calcareous nannoplankton of Cretaceous deposits of the southern slope of the Ukrainian shield and its southern frame, its age distribution and stratigraphy significance. Methods of obtaining, processing and interpretation of primary information: lithological, paleontological, light and electron microscopy, morphological, phylogenetic systematics, mathematical statistics, descriptive. The problems of a technique of studying of calcareous nannofossils is considered. Systematics, ontogeny, taphonomy can be studied only by means of an electron microscope, for biostratigraphy is advisable to apply a light microscope, is shown. Systematic structure of Cretaceous nannoplankton and its stratigraphic position in the sequences set. Regional zonal scheme of calcareous nannoplankton is developed. Correlation of Cretaceous sediments study area with formations of Europe and Russia has been the behavior. The boundary of the Jurassic and Cretaceous conduct by the appearance Nannoconus steinmannii minor and a sharp increase in the number of nannoconuses. The upper boundary of the Cretaceous system is fixed on the disappearance of all species of Cretaceous.
