Essay

Dissertation is devoted to the development of the methodology of mathematical mod-eling and design of hierarchical multicommodity networks with discrete flows of corre-spondence in the environment of the information-analytical decision support system (DSS), operating in real time and opening new avenues for the development of intelligent methods and information technologies for management of difficult process of handling and transporting of discrete flows in multilevel communication networks. The methodol-ogy is based on an integrated solution to the problems of long-term development, tactical planning and operational management of network resources at the backbone, zonal and in-ternal levels of the hierarchy and is aimed primarily at improving the efficiency of func-tioning of the transport networks with small-lot cargoes by decrease expense scarce mate-rial, raw materials, energy, financial and labor resources and increasing the competitive-ness of the transport industry in the domestic and foreign markets. Separate results ob-tained within the framework of the developed methodology, namely mathematical models, methods and algorithms for solving problems of processing and transporting of discrete flows small-lot cargo can be used for designing backbone data transmission networks with virtual container technology, cellular and postal communication, etc. Theoretically, in the thesis developed new methodological approaches to the con-struction of a hierarchical network with discrete flows of correspondence and the corre-sponding structure of DSS, including principles, concepts, mathematical models, methods, algorithms, schemes, scenarios and software for solving problems of optimization of de-velopment and functioning multicommodity networks.
