Gayovyc V. Complex orthopedic treatment of patients with injurie of peripheral nerves of lower limb (clinical and experimental study)

The work is devoted to improve the results of restoration of the function, of the lower extremity in patients with peripheral nerves injury. In the experimental part of the study, the reactions to long-term denervation of the muscles of the cranial and pelvic limbs of the rats were investigated. We analyzed the influence of various factors on the recovery of the nerve: the effect of the nerve growth factor, thyroxine and platelet rich gel on nerve regeneration and maintenance of muscles in case of long denervation. In the clinical part of the work, we proposed the concept of treatment of patients with combined nerve damage, which is based on three main provisions: determination of the level and degree of nerve injury, assessment of the nature and degree of injury of key muscles, evaluation of damage to other functional structures. As a result, we developed a system of restoration of the lower extremity bearing capacity in patients with injury of peripheral nerve on the basis of the concept of complex, pathogenetically substantiated treatment with the use of new and improved surgical techniques, cell and tissue technologies.
