The result of the research was the formation of concepts in understanding of the structural and functional organization of littoral zooplankton as an indicator of the ecosystem transformation in reservoirs. A new method of investigation of the littoral zooplankton was introduced. The original methodological approaches allow the standardizing of the organization of the research of littoral zooplankton of different types of reservoirs that can provide representation and reproducibility for further modeling of succession processes in aquatic ecosystems. The forming of species richness of the littoral zooplankton groups (Kyiv - 193 species, Kaniv - 166, Alexandrivka - 126 Bakshalynske - 86), their ecological and trophic spectra are the result of the legitimate consistent transformation of reservoirs' ecosystems. In heterogeneous reservoirs, the rotifers fauna range in littoral zooplankton communities is 47,6-57,0%. The general pattern of forming of species richness in littoral zooplankton groups was established: in some littoral areas of middle lowland reservoirs in species richness dominated cladocerans, but generally in the littoral of reservoirs dominated rotifers, just as in the plain and canyon reservoirs. For the first time an annotated checklist of Monogonont rotifers of Ukraine was created.
