Essay

The method of constructing a velocity model based on the complex use of fundamentally different algorithms and programs with the subsequent calculation of synthetic seismographs and verification of their compliance with the observed wave field is proposed. The velocity models of four regional profiles are calculated, which greatly complements contemporary ideas about the structure of the earth's crust and the upper mantle of the territory of Ukraine. The velocity anomalies of the lithospheric structural blocks, their layers and the zones of contact and the merging of individual units give new information on the conditions of formation, deformation and development history of separate tectonic structures as well as for the whole region. Clear knowledge of the conditions of the development of sedimentary basins, which is reflected in the seismic velocity model, allows one to allocate areas that are promising in the oil and gas prospecting and to direct the prospecting works for the development of the mineral resource base
