This thesis focuses on the study of the scientific problem of the English language evolution in the aspect of dynamic language processes in Middle English lexical and semantic system, based on the general principles of systemology, modern systemic linguistics and systemic-functional historical lexicology, fulfilled by means of theoretical and empirical research algorithm of systemic functional reconstruction of lexical and semantic system development in the aspect of dialectical unity of system stability and development of Middle English vocabulary, especially in the manifestations of general tendencies of language evolution and the universal laws of dialectics, as well as due to the influence of various factors and the subordination to the language determinant. Methodology of systemic functional historical lexicology as a new area of linguistic research is established, the extension of the analytical and methodological apparatus of modern systemic linguistics with methodological algorithm of systemic functional reconstruction of Middle English lexical and semantic system development as a methodological and methodical procedure is achieved, its application on the material of the lexical and semantic group of Middle English occupational terms is fulfilled. New significant results for theory of language evolution, theory of language change, theory of modern systemic linguistics, as well as theory of language interference are obtained., being valuable for the solution of problems of the systematization of the Middle English lexical structure, its functional differentiation, usage, derivation, variation and functional assimilation of lexical borrowings.
