Essay

The monograph is devoted to the research of the actual contemporary scientific problem of national-cultural identity in the aspect of multiculturalism, as well as ethno-relativism and acculturation. The epistolary, memoiristic, artistic and essay works of Joseph Conrad in the context of English, Polish and Ukrainian identity at the crossroads of literary studies, anthropology of culture, philosophy of culture, sociology of culture and psychology of culture at the philosophical, aesthetic and poethological levels have been considered for the first time. The work considers the conceptual meaning of the complexes of the national-cultural identity of the writer’s artistic world, which are based on the fundamental categories of history, geography, religion, language, spiritual-axiological values, customs, cultural heritage in a comparative dimension. It generalizes the processes of interaction of concepts of the philosophy of existence and ethos of elites in the light of intercultural communication and their refraction in the mechanism of the artist’s acculturation in the context of the integration strategy in English environment. It explores the role of the concepts of “biographical consciousness” and “long waves of culture” in the sense of intertextuality, multicultural intertextual interaction with variants of various reliances with “other”.
