Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the solution of the actual scientific problem of improving the methodology of geomechanical assessment and prognosis of the stability of natural and man-made slopes with heterogeneous structure and controlling their landslide hazard at the regional and local levels. It has been established that the moisture content of soft loamy rocks is the main factor of landslide hazard. The geo-climatic model of landslide hazard for the regions of Ukraine and for the ravine-gully network, which allows predict the number of landslides in the territory depending on atmospheric precipitation, is substantiated. The effect of the transition from the normal to the uniform law of physical-mechanical properties distribution of loams due to moisture content variations and, consequently, the reduction of their strength properties, is established. The estimated scale of the landslide hazard of natural and technogenic slopes for controlling their stability and prevention of ecological and technogenic danger from landslides is justified. The regularities of reducing the strength properties of loamy soils depending on moisture saturation are established.
