The dissertation is devoted to solving the actual scientific and applied problem in the field of fire safety - the development of scientific foundations for the use of lightweight, porous materials and fire extinguishing gelling systems for the elimination of class "B" fires. This allowed the development of a new extinguishing agent in which to a large extent overcome the imperfection of existing methods for the elimination of class "B" fires. The main attention is paid to extinguishing fires in oil tanks.
