Essay

The results of our study showed a significantly higher incidence of osteoporosis and fractures in patients with neurological pathology than in patients of the comparison group. In the structure of fractures in women with PD, vertebral fractures were most often recorded, in stroke patients – hip fractures, among patients with spinal cord injuries, fractures of the femur and tibia. The localization of the predominant loss of bone mass depending on gender and nosology was established: in patients with PD at the level of the lumbar spine, in men with PD at the level of the femoral neck, in stroke women at the level of the lumbar spine and femoral neck. There were no differences in the axial skeleton BMD for stroke men; in spinal cord injury patients BMD differed only at the level of the proximal femur, regardless of gender
