Essay

The dissertation summarizes the results of modern strategies research on in situ, ex situ and in vitro conservation of plants, as well as the problems of adaptation of plants, grown by using the biotechnological methods, to open ground conditions. Theoretical grounds of change of ecological strategies of species in the conditions of highland cenoses anthropogenic transformation and global warming have been deepened. The conceptual foundations of approaches to the restoration of populations of rare plant species have been supplemented and new principles of increasing the adaptive potential of plants obtained by biotechnological methods have been developed. The research presents the results of long-term studies of chorology, ecological and geographical, and phytocenotic growth conditions, differential and integral parameters of highland species of the genus Gentiana L. (Gentiana lutea L., Gentiana punctata L., Gentiana acaulis L.) populations listed in the Red Book as well as their edaphic needs, anatomical structure of leaves and physiological features in situ. Changes in the structural and functional state of plants in vitro and ex vitro of these species under different physicochemical conditions of their cultivation have been studied. On the basis of the results obtained, the system of criteria-markers for assessing the viability of plants in vitro-ex vitro-in situ has been proposed; a model of highland species of the genus Gentiana populations restoration using a systems approach and biotechnological methods has been elaborated.
