Zibtseva O. Conceptual Foundations of Green Space Systems of Small Towns of the Kyiv Region in the Context of Sustainable Development

The dissertation is devoted to the study of conceptual foundations of formation of green space systems of a small towns in the context of eco-balanced development based on the examples of small towns in the Kyiv region. The dissertation explores theoretical, regulatory and terminological aspects of the formation of urban green space systems. Small towns of the Kyiv region are evaluated and ranked by indicators of current and retrospective status of their respectful territories, as well as by the projected long-term changes in their eco-balance, provided that the indicators of their Master plans are achieved. Specifically, trends in the environmental stability of small towns in terms of indicators of stability, greening indicators, and the distribution of satellite imagery coverage types based on the Land Viewer EOS service were studied. Presence of sufficient woodlands endowment of the suburban areas has been established. Small towns were grouped in clusters based on each of the evaluated indicators. Additionally, an integrated similarity of small cities according to a set of eco-balance indicators has been identified. The qualitative characteristics of green spaces of the historical small town of Vyshhorod by categories of functional purpose is illustrated. Strategy for landscaping of small towns based on the priority of eco-consumption, concept of a compact green city with a park environment is substantiated.
