The complex of researches allowed to determine the main criteria for choosing an alloying element to increase the amount of absorbed hydrogen and improve the kinetics of sorption-desorption processes, the ability to form a stable chemical compound with hydrogen (negative value of free energy change during chemical compound formation), greater atomic radius than the component of the alloy that it replaces, as well as high mutual solubility with the main components of the alloy.
