The dissertation is devoted to substantiation of conceptual bases, improvement of theoretical and methodological provisions, development of methodical approaches and practical recommendations of development of the organizational and economic mechanism of formation of tourist and recreational potential of region. The author's definition of the concept of "tourist and recreational potential of the region" is a unique combination of natural and acquired physical, social, intellectual, cultural and spiritual components of the potential of its carriers, which are the region's recreation with appropriate conditions for their implementation. and strategic objectives of regional development. It is emphasized that in the general structure of the components of the classification of tourist and recreational potential of the region is becoming increasingly important event tourism, the development of which will intensify economic development of the region and local communities, diversify the flow of tourists, reduce the burden on regions, traditional tourist resources.
