The dissertation devoted to the solution of an important scientific and technical problem of the creation of roll presses with wide technological possibilities and the increased service life for briquetting of small fractional raw materials in metallurgical and related industries. For the first time, relationships established and analytical dependences of the amount of roll wear with briquetting parameters obtained. A new method of predictive estimation of briquetting parameters at different degree of roll wear is developed. The use of the proposed method will increase the service life of the rolls of briquette presses. For the first time, the relationships between stresses in the compacted material and the elastic aftereffect taking into account the configuration of the pressing surfaces were established. An experimental-analytical method and a mathematical model for determining the value and estimating the influence of the elastic aftereffect on the quality of briquettes have been developed. Using the method allows to determine the rational geometric parameters of the forming elements and to model new types of their modification. Based on the transformed method of hierarchies analysis, new method and mathematical model for selecting a rational configuration of pressing surfaces of rolls, which take into account the relationship of forming elements geometric parameters with briquetting process characteristics and rolls exploitation parameters was created. The ideas about the influence of pressing speed in the roll press on the briquetting process parameters developed. The regularity of the resistance of fine-grained material to compression is established, which in the general case is described by the equation p=kn·a·Kyb, where kn is the correction factor, which takes into account the influence of the pressing speed. The compaction curves obtained taking into account the calculated correction factor, which are integral reflections of the properties of the compacted material, allow to estimate the value of pressure developing in the deformation center and, accordingly, the maximum possible compaction coefficient for the selected pressing speed (roll speed). Theoretical ideas about the relationship between the design parameters of the screw feeder with the parameters of the briquetting process in the roller press were further developed. A mathematical model for determining the rational design and power parameters of the screw feeder, which takes into account the physical and mechanical properties of the briquetted material, modes of operation of the roll press and allows to justify the conditions of use of the press. The basic provisions of creation of designs of roller presses on the basis of structural-parametric synthesis and the analysis are developed. The hierarchical structure of decomposition of roller presses which is based on classification of their layout and constructive decisions on a modular principle is offered. An algorithm for structural-parametric synthesis and a method for its implementation to find a rational design of roll presses have been developed. Implemented: technical documentation and recommendations for the manufacture of advanced designs of roll presses (SE Research and Production Enterprise of the Iron and Steel Institute of Z.I. Nekrasov of NAS of Ukraine, with the participation of partner companies); technologies of briquetting of silicon carbide and improved design of press rolls (LLC "Pyatihatsky metallurgical mixtures plant"); experimental-industrial screw feeder of roller press for briquetting of carbon energy-valuable materials (Prombriket LLC); recommendations for improving the design of the screw feeder and the press drive line (LLC "Biohumos"); technologies for the production of compacted product from fine-grained and pulverized iron-containing secondary materials (PJSC "MMK Ilyich", PJSC "Azovstal").
