Essay

The thesis presents the main statements of the adaptive-constructive concept of the sense of ownership realization in social practices. Based on identified semantic and dynamic ownership features, they explain its implementation in social practices as fluctuations, balancing between routine, ignorance of social practices, and the desire for subjective manifestations and responsible personality formation. The concept is based on a structural and functional model of the sense of ownership realization in social practices. It reflects the motives, factors and ways of the sense of ownership actualization in social practices; reveals the functions, stages, social-psychological mechanisms, types, consequences and effects of the realization of a sense of ownership in social practices; allows to study the patterns of this process. The social-psychological nature of the sense of ownership is substantiated. It is defined as a subjective emotional experience of a person belonging to specific ownership targets, which reflects the meaning and significance of real or abstract, concrete or generalized targets of ownership have for a person, everything that they can call as own. This feeling arises and unfolds in ontogenesis and is realized with varying degrees of relevance, valence, intensity throughout human life. It is substantiated that the sense of ownership is a construct of personal self-consciousness, which is realized in social practices and is both a factor and a consequence of interpersonal interaction. It is a multidimensional formation, which specificity is determined by the organization of its components and heterogeneity. The concept of the sense of ownership realization in social practices is introduced. It is understood as a way of manifestation, embodiment and change of person’s sense of ownership during life in the process of interpersonal and group interaction. This process begins on the basis of instinctive aspirations and needs, which gradually crystallize and transform in the process of socialization and involvement of a person in social practices, under the influence of which a person learns social norms and ways of owning, while constructing and determining them. The motives of psychological appropriation are determined: the desire for self-efficacy, identity formation, a sense of territoriality, belonging and responsibility. The essence of social-psychological mechanisms of sense of ownership realization in social practices is revealed. They provide two-sided of this process: assimilation of social norms and values as internal personal experience; as well as the influence of personal values, experience and attitude towards property on social norms and social practice. It is shown that the actualization of the sense of ownership manifestation is possible by strengthening control over the ownership targets, deepening intimate knowledge about it and self-investment of forces, knowledge, efforts on the ownership targets. The verified types of the sense of ownership realization in social practices are presented. They are based on the criteria of formation-unformation and actualization-non-actualization. The main regularities of the sense of ownership realization in social practices are determined. It is substantiated that the sense of ownership realizes in different dimensions of the individual’s psychological space, simultaneously unfolding in it and constructing and transforming it. The sense of ownership has an adaptive character and balances between the implementation in social practices as normalized, everyday, routine actions and its actualized manifestation in situations of exacerbation of the need for psychological possession of something or loss of property that motivates a person to subjective activity and responsibility. The sense of ownership realization can take place in three temporal perspectives, constantly oscillating between them: actual, perspective and retrospective. The sense of ownership realization is carried out in different dimensions of the individual’s psychological space: territoriality, corporeality, financial sphere, material things, social contacts, ideas, values, thoughts, time regime, virtual space, organization, and civic sphere. It is empirically determined the most typical social practices in which the sense of ownership is realized. The peculiarities of the sense of ownership manifestation in the virtual space and depending on the level of psychological tends to poverty, the level of individual and social individualism/collectivism have been empirically studied. The peculiarities of the sense of ownership manifestation in the conditions of quarantine restrictions of COVID-19 are determined. Psychological means of harmonizing the sense of ownership manifestation in modern society for work at both individual and group levels are presented.
