Essay

The object of study: normal metals and normal metal -superconductor heterostructures. The aim of the study is to find and investigate new mechanisms of bistability and develop a theory of the domain and self-oscillations in normal metals and normal metal - superconductor heterostructures. The investigation methods are modern methods of mathematical physics. New results: the phenomenon of spontaneous generation of electric domains, self-oscillations and current filaments is discovered in normal metals; an effect of a decrease in the N-S-N structure total resistance after transition of the superconductor into the normal state which causes self-oscillations of the voltage drop, current and the superconductor order parameter in the vicinity of the superconductor critical current, is predicted and investigated; a phenomenon of conductance giant oscillations in S-N-S structures is discovered and investigated. The effect is shown to cause self-oscillations of the transport current and the Josephson current.
