Essay

The role of Ca2+- dependent phospholipid signalling systems in interphase cells death in the population of small spleen lymphocytes following total X-ray irradiation of animals is studied. Appearance of the early morphologic features of apoptosis in lymphocytes from irradiated animals is shown to be induced concurrently with phospholipase C activation and cytosolic Ca2+ elevation and is followed by arachidonic acid release from membrane phospholipids, increase of lypoxygenation products content and DNA internucleosomal degradation. The model of Ca2+ - phospholipid signalling pathways of radiation induced lymphocytes death in interphase is presented. The results obtained are the base for elaboration of remedies for prevention of cell death under the influence of apoptotic factors.
