Essay

The research solves the scientific task to determine areas for further improvement of material and procedural provisions for the development and adoption of city charters in Ukraine. It is proposed to consider that the city charter is a codified normative act of constituent-municipal character, which is adopted by the city council and establishes the order of creation and functioning of city self-government bodies, procedures of direct democracy, other regulations. The city charter is adopted in order to ensure comprehensive regulation of city self-government.
