Essay

The dissertation is devoted to problematic aspects and peculiarities of criminological characteristics and prevention of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives. The dissertation investigates the theoretical and methodological principles of research on the prevention of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives; criminological characteristics of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives; measures to prevent these crimes. The purpose of the dissertation research is a comprehensive criminological and criminal-legal analysis of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and the development on this basis of scientifically sound measures aimed at preventing them. The first section of the study is devoted to various issues of scientific and regulatory development of the outlined issues. The research includes an analysis of the work of scientists who have studied issues related to the prevention of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives. The works of scientists at the level of candidate dissertations, monographs, scientific articles, etc. are determined. Normative elaboration of issues of prevention of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives is considered at two levels: international and national. The international level contains a number of regulations adopted by the UN and other world organizations. The national level is currently represented by a small number of bylaws. The main problem of normative development of this direction is the absence in the current legislation of a separate Law that would regulate relations in the field of arms trafficking. The dissertation presents examples of other states, which show that with the adoption of national legislation in this area, as well as with the legislative simplification of the permit for the possession of weapons, the crime rate is significantly reduced.
