The thesis is submitted to obtain a scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy, specialty 132 – Materials science (13 - Mechanical engineering). - National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kharkiv, 2021. The thesis is devoted to the implementation of complex researches in the field of structural engineering of vacuum-arc single-, multilayer and multi-element coatings on the influence of the main physical and technological parameters on a structural condition of coatings. This can become the basis for the development of the foundations of the structural engineering of multilayer and multi-element nitride coatings to ensure ultra-high hardness and functional properties. The studies were carried out using both classical and fundamentally new modern methods of obtaining and modeling the processes of formation of coatings, X-ray diffraction analysis, mechanical tests.
