Essay

According to the results of the analysis of scientific sources, it is established that the increasing market demand for titanium causes the necessity to develop new deposits for the titanium ore mining. Prospective deposits for the production of titanium ore in Ukraine are placer deposits of titanium-rutile-ilmenite, being below the aquifer line; that complicates the extraction of ore sands. These are: Motronivskyi-Annivskyi and Pivnichno-Zakhidnyi sites of Malyshevske deposit as well as Tarasivske and Stremygorodske deposits. They have similar complex hydrogeological conditions of ore deposit and unstable watered overburden. Therefore, in terms of practice, a complex of mining equipment “dragline + dump truck” has started to be applied for the development of such type of fields. That use is stipulated by low specific pressure of the dragline excavators on the soil and the possibility of developing water-bearing levels. Basing on the analysis of practical sources, the performance of dragline excavators during their operation in combination with dump trucks is by 15-20% lower than during their operation in terms of non-transport mining technology, which in turn affects significantly the production cost. Improvement of the performance of dragline excavators during their operation with dump trucks is possible in technical, technological, and organizational ways. For the years of practical application of dragline excavators with transport means, technical improvements of excavators have been developed. Therefore, a technological aspect is quite a promising way to improve the performance of dragline excavators, i.e. optimization of the operating parameters of technological schemes.
