Object of research: reactions oxidation of ethylbenzenes by ozone-containing gases in acetic acid; objective: the study of the kinetic features of the reactions of liquid-phase oxidation of 4-bromoethyl benzene and its oxygen-containing derivatives by ozone in glacial acetic acid and the development of a new method for the synthesis of 4-bromoacetophenone; methods: kinetic and non-kinetic research methods, spectrophotometric method, GLC method, IR- spectroscopy method, iodometric method; novelty: the oxidation reaction of 4-bromoethylbenzene and its derivatives by ozone in the liquid phase was investigated and a new method for the synthesis of 4-bromoacetophenone was developed; results of the study: it is found that the introduction into the aromatic ring of ethylbenzene deactivating substituent (-Br) increases the selectivity of the oxidation of the substrate along the side chain; in the process of oxidation of 4-bromoethylbenzene by ozone in the presence of catalytic impurities of SPM, in particular manganese (II) acetate, significantly increases the selectivity of the reaction by ethyl group; the branch: natural Sciences.
