Hulovata L. International Activity of the University of Lviv in 1991–2019 (On the example of cooperation of social study and humanitarian schools with the academic environment of the European Union)

Grounded on a wide source base, for the first time in Ukrainian historiography, the international activity of social study and humanitarian schools of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, aimed at the academic environment of the European Union in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s, has been comprehensively characterized. Thus, the study determines, in a comparative context, the features of external relations of each individual social study or humanitarian school, and within this characteristic it highlights the structural (units) and personal (specific persons) dimensions of international activities of these schools of the University of Lviv in diachrony - changes in the international activity of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv are traced in relation to the academic environment of the EU countries during the 1990s - 2010s. Particular attention is paid to the forms of international activity of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv: internships for school staff and students studying abroad, and foreign scholars and students at the University of Lviv; open lectures and meetings with representatives of intellectual and socio-political elites of different countries; mutual participation in international conferences and other forums and publications in foreign and Lviv periodicals, respectively; joint works of teachers of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and foreign researchers; participation in joint projects; scholarship, grant and other programs of international and foreign foundations, institutions, organizations. The specific results of the outlined international activity are characterized. Based on specific examples, the impact of cooperation agreements between the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and foreign partners representing EU countries, as well as the role of the Ukrainian diaspora in these countries in the international activities of the University of Lviv are revealed.
