Honcharenko D. Family and marital relations of student youth of Ukraine in the XXI century (based on the materials of Kyiv).

The study on the topic of this dissertation was carried out during 2016-2020 according to the plans of research work of the Department of Ethnology and Local Lore of the Faculty of History of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. At the present stage of development of our society, family and marital relations are one of the basic social and cultural values of mankind as in ancient times. Throughout history, the main task of a new family has been the birth and upbringing of children for further continuation of the family in order to pass cultural heritage to descendants. However, the modern image of the family has undergone significant transformations because the world does not stand still but it is constantly changing and improving. Globalization and digitalization are the processes that lead to the modernization of traditional customs and rituals, which in turn change the structure and essence of certain traditional actions. This fact indicates an unconscious substitution of concepts. The results of this research show the transformational changes that family and marital relations have undergone in comparison with the traditional Ukrainian society, as well as the refusal of the rules and norms established by the older generation to the value orientation of the younger generation based on their own emotions and feelings.
