The dissertation is an independent study, which presents the author's view on the role and place of Cossack prey in the activities of the Ukrainian Cossacks of the XVI-XVIII centuries, a comprehensive study of the problems of Cossack prey. In this work: the state of scientific development of the topic is analyzed and the little-researched and debatable issues are singled out; special attention is paid to the influence of the Great Steppe Frontier of Ukraine on the formation of Cossack prey; the role of the border administration in the formation of prey is determined; the attitude of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth authorities to the prey fishing of the Cossacks was analyzed; the economic aspects of extraction are characterized; the substantiation of the content of the Cossack prey and its change is investigated; identified stages of transformation of Cossack prey; models of prey among the Zaporozhian and registered Cossacks are demonstrated; the reflections of the prey of the Ukrainian Cossacks in international agreements are analyzed; identified features of the geography of Cossack mining; the structure of Cossack prey is clarified; revealed the legal aspects of mining within the Zaporozhian Cossacks. For the first time, documentary sources from the archives of Ukraine, Poland and Russia were translated into scientific circulation periodical «Amsterdam» 1708-1709.
