Diadechko O. Old Rus musical instruments (Х–ХІІІ century)

Novel scientific concepts and approaches presented by the study are represented by the first compilation, organisation and comprehensive interdisciplinary analysis of a significant array of sources that identify Old Rus musical instruments of the X–XIII centuries. In-depth historical and art-historical studies of the accumulated material with the involvement of archaeological and art history methods provide an opportunity to identify and clarify the appearance, spread and use of musical instruments. The practical significance of the work is determined by the benefit of the work for and possibility of use in scientific, educational (development and teaching of such humanities disciplines as «History of Ukraine», «Archaeology», «History of Ukrainian Art», «Culture of Ukraine», etc.), museum, and cultural sectors. Furthermore, the work provides ample material for the reconstruction of musical instruments and performing arts. In addition, the results of the study provide a basis for further development in the analysis of the history of musical instruments that existed in Ukraine, and an opportunity for historical reconstruction of musical instruments and their use in contemporary musical art of Ukraine.
