The work is devoted to a comprehensive study of the life, social and local history activities of the ruler of the Chernihiv provincial archival commission, participant and secretary of the Chernihiv city duma Pyotr Mikhailovich Dobrovolsky (1871–1910). The practical significance of the dissertation research lies in the fact that the facts and conclusions given in the dissertation can be used in the process of writing generalizing works and study guides on the history of Ukraine and local history.
