Essay

International space law, which peaked in the second half of the last century, is currently experiencing some stagnation. Its progressive development is hampered by several factors, both objective and subjective. Despite the extreme urgency of the problem of securing space activities, it has not yet received adequate international legal regulation. The trend of the last two decades has been to build the capacity of "soft law" in this area, with an emphasis on transparency and confidence-building measures in space, rules of conduct during space activities, principles of ensuring the sustainability of the space environment and activities, and so on. The object of the dissertation research is the international relations that arise between states and international intergovernmental organizations to ensure the stability, efficiency, and security of space activities in modern international law. The subject of the study is the contradictions that arise in the application of certain norms of international space law and in general the rules of international law in the space industry in the implementation of space activities by states and other entities. The main purpose of the study is to clarify the problems and contradictions of regulatory regulation of space activities at the present stage and to work out possible ways to solve these problems and contradictions. The defined goal led to the solution of the following tasks: to comprehensively analyze the genesis of international space law as a result of scientific and technological progress, in order to further improve it; to determine the current state of positive international space law; to study the practical application of "soft law" in the field of space activities in order to determine its ability to adequately meet themodern requirements of space activities; to study the practice of states concerning the transformation of the provisions of the norms of positive international law and "soft law" in the field of space activities into national legislation; assess the possibilities of modern international legal support for long-term sustainability of space activities; to develop specific scientifically substantiated proposals for the improvement of universal agreements on space; identify current threats in the field of space activities and propose international legal solutions to eliminate them; to study institutional cooperation in the development of international legal regulation of space activities; to analyze the activities of the UN Space Committee as the main coordinator of international legal cooperation in the field of space activities; to study the activities of international universal organizations aimed at improving the legal regulation of space activities; to determine the role of international non-governmental organizations in the development of modern international legal models of space activities; to develop the author's vision of prospects of the international legal maintenance of long-term stability of space activity; to analyze the international legal cooperation of Ukraine in the space industry
