Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the determination of the features of hepatobiliary system disorders in young children with community-acquired pneumonia, based on the evaluation of new scientific data on the pathogenetic role of clinical and laboratory markers of the infectious-inflammatory process, secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI). We have investigated that in response to the infectious-inflammatory process, along with the leading symptoms of pneumonia, changes occur in the body of children, primarily from the side of the biliary system, namely sludge syndrome, hyperreflective wall and thickening of the gallbladder wall. More than half of the examined children had an increase in the size of the liver according to the results of an ultrasound examination. The relationship between the indicators of the activity of the infectious and inflammatory process and the indicators of the cytolysis syndrome, cholestasis and protein-synthesizing function of the liver, which are features of the course of this disease in young children, was also revealed.
