Roik Y. The monuments of castle and palace architecture in Vinnytsia region and their use in tourism.

Numerous monuments of castle and palace architecture are concentrated in Vinnytsia region. Despite the significant scale and diversity of these objects, most of them are not involved in the socio-cultural sphere and are used irrationally. Active castle construction in this area began at the end of the 14th century and lasted until the beginning of the 18th century. Defensive fortifications played an important role in the settlement of the territory, development of cities and towns. When they were no longer needed, castles fell into disrepair or were used for public purposes. Only in the 20th century, the representatives of the monument protection system paid attention to these objects. Palace construction began to develop from the end of the 18th century, it was presented in different styles and scales. The development and scale of palace construction was influenced by the position of the nobility and gentry, which depended on both their economic capabilities and public policy. From the beginning of the 20th century, palaces are losing their original functions, and most of the buildings are still in poor condition.
