The scientific study analyzed a complex of historical sources that were formed as a result of the activity of industrial enterprises (PP) in the metallurgical and energy sectors of the city of Zaporizhzhia, the so-called "Dnipro industrial complex" (DPK), from the beginning of its construction in 1927 until Ukraine gained independence (1991), inclusive. Elucidation of the potential of assimilation of the historiographic source base proved the presence of four thematic blocks promising for use: 1) subject history of the construction, development and restoration of the DPK PP; 2) formation of funds of factory and state archives, creation and development of a network of factory museums and completion of funds of state local history museums; 3) global and local historical contexts, which are important for clarifying the informational potential of historical sources produced by PP.
