Dissertation is dedicated to the developing a theoretical framework and normative recommendations for implementing technological methods aimed at significantly reducing defects like burns and cracks during the final machining operations on the products made from materials prone to the mentioned defects and which surface layer contains heredity defects of structural or technological origin. The objectives of this work are twofold: the first involves studying thermo-mechanical phenomena that shape the quality of the surface layer during the final machining operations considering the preceding stages of product processing; the second objective is determining the influence of thermo-mechanical phenomena on crack occurrence and the appearance of burns based on the quantitative analysis of the thermal and strained state
