Sukhovets Yu. M. Adverbial equivalents of the word of the modern Ukrainian language in the various style texts at the beginning of the 21st century. – Qualified research work (manuscript). Dissertation to obtain the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field 03 «Humanities», specialty 035 «Philology». – National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Kyiv, 2024. The dissertation is devoted to the adverbial equivalents of the word that are differently designed lexical units of a transitional nature, which show signs of the adverbial class of words in the Ukrainian language system. The essence of the concept of equivalents of the word in linguistics is characterised, and the works devoted to related linguistic phenomena are reviewed. It is traced, which common and distinctive properties characterise words, equivalents of the word, free (syntactic) word combinations, and phraseological units. The ratio of adverbs, adverbial equivalents of the word, and adverbial phraseological units are analysed separately. The level status of equivalents of the word in the structure of modern Ukrainian has been specified. Special attention is focused on the prepositional-case form and the degrees of its adverbialization with a projection on the adverbial equivalents of the word. It is assumed that within the prepositional degree of adverbialization of the prepositional-case form, it is worth distinguishing the auxiliary, non-proper-prepositional, degree of adverbialization. It was concluded that the prepositional-case forms of the non-proper-prepositional degree of adverbialization constitute the formal structure of the adverbial equivalents of the word. The identification criteria for adverbial equivalents of the word are offered, namely: morphological-syntactic (correlation with proper-adverbs), formal-analogous (analogy by formal structure), semantic (semantic relations between the studied units), morphological (correlation with case form), orthographic (parallel separate or integral writing of an adverbial unit), communicative (correlation with the form that currently traced only in speech). The figurative criterion will help to distinguish between an equivalent of the word and a phraseological unit. The formal-structural organisation of adverbial equivalents of the word in the models is represented. One hundred and thirteen models were created on the research material, divided into groups: productive models, models of average productivity, unproductive models, and models of tautological structure. It has been observed that the greatest ability to transpose words into the adverbial class is shown by combinations of prepositions with nouns, which lose their categorical properties when creating a new unit. Substantivised adjectives, pronouns, numerals, exclamations, particles, adverbs and predicative words also participate in the creation of adverbial equivalents of the word. During the formation of an adverbial equivalent of the word, they also lose their part-language status. It is argued that the adverbial equivalents of the word of the prepositional-case form provide the possibility of spreading their structure by attributive and indicatory elements. The semantic field of adverbial equivalents of the word constructed in the matrix form, which consists of six zones – nuclear, circumnuclear, peri-peripheral, peripheral, and remote-nuclear, – is characterised. The nuclear zone components are primarily focused on the representation of the action subject state and the characteristics of the action itself semantics. Semes of the circumnuclear zone specify the mental and physical state of the subject or object of action. In the peri-peripheral zone, the leading place is occupied by semes, which express abstract concepts. The peripheral zone of the semantic field first of all manifests the semantics of static or dynamic signs and signs of action, proper-action, and method of action. In the remote-nuclear zone, there are a wide variety of semantic elements that can indicate the proper-sign, method of action, time, place, etc. A separate aspect of the study of the internal organisation of the adverbial equivalents of the word concerns the identification of semantic oppositions in which these units enter with the help of integral and differential semes. It was found that the adverbial equivalents of the word can be in oppositions of identity, equipollent oppositions, and privative oppositions. Keywords: adverbial equivalents of the word, preposition, noun, case, model, semantics (meaning), seme, semantic field, lexical and semantic resources, variant, phraselogism (phraselogical unit), lexicography, stylistics, syncretism (transitivity), Ukrainian language.
